T.J.F.A. Division 5---Sunday 13th December 2009 Trimdon United FC. Under 13s v Guisborough Town U13s
After playing at Hardwick Youth in the previous week (a game that could only be described as a farce with a late kick off due to the pitch being used and being more akin to a ploughed field / mud bath than a grass pitch, and a kindly home referee who thought that under 13s played 45mins each way, thought that swearing was a cautionable offence and not a dismissal when committed by the home players, awarded a penalty for the home side when there were no lines to indicate where the alleged foul took place and which was no more than a defender preventing an attacker from stepping back onto his toes, then allowing 3 attackers to encroach along the line inside the “D” as all 4 were in a line at the taking of the penalty this was a 4-2 win turned into a 5-4 defeat as goals were scored in the 39th minute of the first half and 42nd minute of the second half by the home team and reading the report on the Guisborough game at Hardwick it appeared to be the same ref?) it was good to get back to a grass pitch and a sensible referee. On a wet pitch Guisboro kicked off with 10 men and Trimdon had a bare 11 with neither goalkeeper available Kieron Loverance was seconded and became the first Trimdon keeper to have a full game shut out with this team. With a cobbled together team but a man advantage Trimdon were the stronger team and but for some fine goal keeping and wayward finishing Trimdon could have made this game safe before they did manage to score in the 24th min. with Tom Barker taking a quick throw in for Jamie Dalton to run away from defenders and smash the ball in for 1-0. Trimdon increased their lead when Man Of The Match Anthony Wicks jink his way through the defence and was chopped from behind just as he was about to shoot but ever reliable penalty taker Ashley Dunning strode forward and without fuss sent the keeper the wrong way for the perfect penalty kick and 2-0 in the 27th min. A minute later another superb run by Jamie Dalton saw Christian Daniels score for 3-0 and in the 35th minute after some great pressure Joe Croft opened his goal account to make the half time score 4-0 to the home side. Guisboro seemed to get strength from the half time and re-organised to put up a gritty and determined 2nd half performance that saw both teams tire and spaces open up but the Trimdon defence were not about to let the visitors have any easy chances and protected their keeper with solid and determined defending from Ashley Dunning a mid fielder playing at the back, a masterful defensive performance by Callum Johnston a centre forward with 10 goals in the league to his name, another superb display in defence from Reece Bartrum, and a great game and goal by Joe Croft from the back. Guisboro may have rode their luck 2nd half but did deserve something for all their wholehearted and never say die play in the second half but it was not to be as Trimdon scored with the last kick of the half following a superb free kick by Anthony Wicks and an even better full length diving save, Christian Daniels following in blasted the ball past a helpless keeper to make the final score.
Trimdon 5 Guisborough 0
Man Of The Match – Anthony Wicks for a stunning display in midfield and on another day could have had yet another hat trick to his name. As always very well played. Defender Of The Match - Ashley Dunning (was close to MOTM for this display) marshalled his defence superbly and scored from the penalty spot.
